Microsoft Investors Demand Transparency on AI Military Use Amid Gaza Conflict Reports
Microsoft shareholders are pushing for greater accountability as concerns mount over the company's artificial intelligence applications in military operations. A coalition of investors has drafted a resolution demanding Microsoft disclose its safeguards against AI misuse, particularly in conflict zones where human rights violations may occur.
The MOVE follows allegations that Israel's military employed Microsoft's AI-enabled software during recent Gaza operations. With a December vote looming, the resolution could force Microsoft to publicly outline its ethical review processes for sensitive deployments.
Despite the controversy, Microsoft's financial performance remains robust. The tech giant boasts a 35.79% profit margin with $96.64 billion net income, while its stock has gained 19.87% year-to-date. Shares currently trade at a forward P/E of 33.44, reflecting the market's continued confidence in Microsoft's $3.74 trillion valuation.
